Included in the purchase of your Tow Skim board is a pack of 4 wristbands: A white band (your Tow Skim Tribe band), an orange, a green and a blue band (representing Knee, Handle and Free Rider levels, respectively).

These bands not only look really cool, they are a means for riders to identify themselves as members of the Tow Skim Tribe and to represent their riding level.

Although we really just want everyone to have fun, we feel that our ‘little riders’ might get more enjoyment from their Tow Skim boards (’their parents‘ investment’) if they have goals to reach and are rewarded for reaching these goals.

Issuing wristbands as Tow Skim mers progress through the riding levels is meant to encourage young riders to challenge themselves, extend the boundaries of their comfort zones and is about setting and achieving goals.

We recommend that Mums and Dads actively encourage their children to achieve the requirements for each rider level, so that graduating to the next level (and being rewarded with the appropriate wristband) becomes a meaningful achievement for them.

The Tow Skim Tribe (White) Band

The white band, you earn automatically. It identifies you as part of the Tow Skim Tribe.

As soon as you receive your Tow Skim board, you should start wearing the White Tow SkimTribe wristband. Once you put it on, you can never take it off — seriously!
(No, not really, but we know you won’t want too ….)

The Rider Level (Orange, Green, Blue) Bands

Earning Your
Knee Rider Wristband

The first step towards becoming a ‘Tow Skim Pro’, earning your Knee Rider band is all about starting, stopping, turning and riding with confidence.

To Earn Your Orange Band:

  • Start and stop safely and confidently in the Knee Riderposition (see video, above)
  • Ride along comfortably as the tow’er jogs/runs
  • Make a left and a right 180 degree turn and continue riding

Once you can confidently complete these moves, you should be presented with your Orange Band (in front of a ‘curiously large’ gathering of family and friends).

Earning Your
Handle Rider Wristband

Movin’ on up in the levels! As you morph into a Handle Rider, you’ll need to continue mastering the skills you’ve already learned, while also factoring in balance.

To Earn Your Green Band:

  • Start and stop safely and confidently in the Handle Riderposition (see video, above)
  • Ride along comfortably as the tow’er jogs/runs
  • Make a left and a right 180 degree turn and continue riding

Once you can confidently complete these moves, you should be presented with your Green Band (in front of family, friends, invited media and maybe a Rock Star!)

Earning Your
Free Rider Wristband

At last, the pinnacle of Tow Skimriding! Here at the peak, the Free Rider must be asking themselves, “am I ready for this!?” (Well, are you?)

To Earn Your Blue Band:

  • Demonstrate that you can confidently throw down and jump onto a moving Tow Skim board (see video, above)
  • Then do it while holding the rope handle and continue riding
  • Ride along comfortably along the water’s edge as the tow’er jogs/runs
  • Make a left and a right 180 degree turn and continue riding

Once you can confidently complete these moves, you should be presented with your Blue Band (at City Hall, after a ticker tape parade, in front of family, friends, local community, media and a president/prime minister, or two — if they’re available….
